High Desert Sun and Wind Screens

High Desert Sun and Wind Screens

Everyone’s beautiful home is perfect on a nice day. We have lots of beautiful days, more than many folks, but in New Mexico our beautiful days can take a toll. Too much sun breaks down materials, too much wind wears down metal fittings, low humidity saps moisture from wood features. Crazy weather like hailstorms, sudden frequent high wind gusts, and weeks without rain is the environment we have trained in. We build shade solutions for the desert that reduce the effects our weather has on your home and your comfort.

Low profile buildings reduce the effects of our weather, thick walls keep warmth in and cold out. Adding screening to outdoor areas adds an extra layer of protection and shields glass windows and doors which are the single greatest weakness. Heat bleeds through glass and warms up the interior, cold winds also seep through glass to chill the interior. Patio screens will shield against both whether it’s the height of summer or the depths of winter. The Buffalo color patio screens shown deflect up to 95% of UV rays and shield the area from winds. With the screens rolled down, exterior stone, stucco and wood surfaces are protected from the summer’s heat. Rolled up on a sunny winter day will allow some heat to penetrate to the interiors. By controlling some heat and cold penetrating the indoors, you’ll also save on heating and cooling costs.
