Architectural steel frames the structure of nearly every outdoor sun & wind protection design we take on. Architectural steel is the bones of each installation & defines the final shape of every patio cover, awning, screening & even shade sail project. It is the initial form of every design that determines its final integrity, strength & durability.
Steel mounts or supports for shade sails are the simplest form of architectural steel & are key to the support & function. Patio screening utilizes architectural steel housing to hold the screens. A patio cover or even a full-enclosure is a more advanced design that can require corner supports, cross-beams & occasionally even roof supports. The Santa Fe Opera pavilion we designed & built several years ago is a high example of architectural steel that both frames the pavilion, & is intended to be a primary visual element of the structure. As a design/build custom awning company, we rely on the engineer’s understanding of load-bearing & a designer’s understanding of both our customer’s styling wishes & the practical knowledge of what will work, be beautiful & add value to the overall design.
